29th January 2017 - Apprentice Training Award
Lucas Stenhouse and Matthew Steele are the recepients of an Advanced Apprenticeship Training award from Rochdale Council. It was a great day for our apprenticeship program as a further 2 apprentices were recruited on Monday, bringing the total number of Apprentices at Hanson Springs to 10...

4th September 2016 - The Hanson Springs Stakes Handicap
As only 2 Employees were in the '50' club this year, Our production team from Cell 4 were picked to go down to the Parade Ring and choose the best presented horse for our sponsored race the 4:40 Hanson Springs Stakes Handicap. The group chose Horse Number 5 'Dark Defender' and David Bell presented the head stable boy with the award.
'Dark Defender' trained by Keith Dagleish went on to win the race.
Following the race Jan Weston, David Bell, Stuart Tighe and Jim Darrow presented the winning trophies to the Jockey Jim Crowley and owner Tommy Docherty

What another great day at York Races... The staff at York Races and CGC Events certainly know how to make us all feel special.

During our pre-panto meal Billy Pearce came to see us and had his picture taken with Malcolm's Granddaughters.
The Pantomime was 'Chuffin' excellent as always... Can't wait for the next one 'Peter Pan' in 2017.

22nd October 2015 - Rochdale Training Awards Night.
Another proud evening for Hanson Springs as we celebrated Ian Martin being awarded his certificate for completing his NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship. The award was presented by Councillor Gordon Birtwistle, who is a great advocate of engineering apprenticeships. 8th September 2015 - Offshore Europe 2015
Graham Fowler, Neil Barcroft and Stefan Nichol from our technical sales department manned our stand at the Offshore Oil & Gas Exhibition in Aberdeen. Malcolm and Maureen Hanson visited on Wednesday. It was great to see so many friends and acquaintances again.
6th September 2015 - The Hanson Springs Stakes Handicap
Hanson Springs sponsored the 4:40 race at York. The race was won comfortably by No 11 ‘George Dryden.’ Following the race Malcolm, Maureen, Lisa & John presented the winning trophies to the Owner, Jockey (PJ McDonald) and Trainer (Ann Duffield)

To Celebrate Malcolm's 70th Birthday we arranged a Family Fun Day and BBQ in the grounds at Hanson Place.
What a great day, ths weather was very, very kind to us and the kids loved the carnival games, face painting, balloons, bouncy castles and an ice cream van.
Gaz Domi won the bull riding competition after a 'bull off' against Ste Cummings.
5th August 2015 - Malcolm's 70th Birthday
In the evening Malcolm did put his phone down and enjoy a meal at the fabulous Cenetta restaurant in Rochdale with his family.

5th July 2015 - Inaugural Golf Tournament
Today saw our first Golf Competition which was held at Lobden Golf Club in the Pennines above Whitworth. With the weather being kind the views from the course were spectacular.
The results after 9 holes were as follows:-

3rd Matthew Price (35)
The only 2 ball was by Luke Jenkinson on the last hole, and he's only 15!
28th January 2015 - Automated Powder Coating Line Installed at Hanson Place.
Our $500,000 powder coat line has been commissioned and is now in full operation. The line consists of a Phosphate Prewash, Gema 'MagicCylinder' automated coating booth and cure oven. The Gema booth is the first of it's kind to be installed in the UK and has been developed in Switzerland to offer a uniform airflow in the core of the automatic coating section, allowing for greater control over the powder application process.
19th January 2015 - Hanson Springs on BBC News...
Today the Centre for Cities report 'Cities 2015' highlighted an increase in unemployment in Rochdale of around 10% over the past 10 years. The Rt. Hon. Simon Danczuk MP for Rochdale contacted the BBC to stress the efforts being made in Rochdale by local companies to improve the job prospects for Rochdale residents.
The BBC chose Hanson Springs as the setting for it's investigation into Rochdale, With Steve Rumbelow (Chief Executive of Rochdale Council) and Malcolm Hanson being interviewed at Hanson Place.
Hanson Springs have created over 50 full time positions since purchasing Hanson Place 2 years ago and we hope and expect the growth to continue...
17th January 2015 - Family trip to the Panto.
After battling through the snow to get to Bradford, over 250 of the extended family of Hanson Springs, (Kids and Grandkids welcome) enjoyed a great meal and pantomime at the Alhambra Theatre.
As always Billy Pearce was 'Chuffin Amazing' and Joe McElderry ain't a bad singer either...
2014 12 01 - Rochdale's new Landmark.
A landmark of Rochdale for many years the Dunlop Tower was demolished in 2014. Each Christmas the Dunlop Tower was decorated with a Christmas Tree which could be seen when approaching Rochdale from the M62/A627(M).
Hanson Springs decided to start a new 'Rochdale' tradition and erected a 12M (36ft) tall Christmas tree on the top of the administration office block, illuminated with over 15,000 LED lights it looked rather good...
14th November 2014 - Rochdale Training Awards Night.
This was a very proud evening for Hanson Springs as we watched three of our Apprentices receive their certificates from Chris Beech (Assistant Manager of Rochdale Football Club). Milly Whitaker and Jason Tighe both received their Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship. Stephen Bolton having completed his Advanced Apprenticeship was presented with his Level 3 certificate.
A great evening was made extra special when Milly Whitaker received the award for 'Apprentice of the Year' a first for Hanson Springs. Well done Milly.
22nd October 2014 - RDA Tour of Rochdale
Today a coach tour of potential inward investments sites was arranged by the Rochdale Development Agency (RDA) and Rochdale Council. The tour started from Hanson Place where Ellie Jenkinson and Amy Hanson acted as 'Receptionists' for the invited guests including the Chairman of Rochdale Development Agency Phil Ewbank. (pictured)

What another great day we all had at York races, the sun shone all day and the staff in the Ebor Restaurant and Parade Ring really know how to make everyone feel special. All our employees who were 50 in 2014 went down to the parade ring to select the best presented horse in our sponsored race the 'Hanson Springs Stakes'

Hanson Springs sponsored the 4:40 race at York. The race was won by ‘Caffeine.’ Following the race Malcolm Hanson, The Rt. Hon. Simon Danczuk MP and his wife Karen Danczuk presented the winning trophy to Martin Dwyer (Jockey) and Willian Muir (Trainer).
Many of our party had backed 'Fast Track' ironically this came in late...

On our 51st Anniversary at York Races we took the opportunity to get all our staff that moved from Todmorden to Rochdale in 1978 together, sadly Terry Mowe couldn't make the photo and we forgot Danny...! But you are looking at well over 300 years spring making experience here and we will try to get everyone together again in 2015.
20th June 2014 - Simon Danczuk visits Hanson Place
The Rt. Hon. Simon Danczuk MP for Rochdale today re-visited our factory following his attendance at the naming ceremony on our 50th Anniversary in September 2013. He toured the recently occupied administration block and the first 3 production cells.
16th May 2014 - Administration relocates to Hanson Place.
Today saw the first administration staff move to Hanson Place. The move will be completed over the next few weeks after which all our administration staff will be located together comprising, Technical Support, Design, Customer Service, Sales Order Processing, Shipping and Accounts.
27th March 2014 - ISO Approval
Following a 2 day audit of Hanson Place by BSI we are proud to announce that the Quality Management System at Hanson Place is now approved to ISO 9001:2008.
17th March 2014 - Commissioning of Dust Handling Facility
Today saw the final elements of our new Dust Handling Facility installed at Hanson Place. The system has the capability to extract and filter over 100,000 cubic metres of air per hour. The integral secondary HEPA filters allow the cleaned air to be recirculated back into the building, saving on heating costs.
17th February 2014 - Offshore Europe
Hanson Springs have confirmed their attendance at the 2015 Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition in Aberdeen from the 8th - 11th September 2015.

Just a week after moving our 8mm section we have relocated our 16mm section.

24th January 2014 - Family trip to the Panto.
150 of the extended family of Hanson Springs enjoyed a great night out at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre watching Billy Pearce and Chico in the Pantomime Aladdin.

6th January 2014 - First full production cell moved to Hanson Place.
Today saw the relocation of our 4mm production cell to our new facility. The movement of the machinery started on Friday 3rd January and was completed over the weekend, thanks to our internal maintenance team, production staff and external contractors.
7th December 2013 - Christmas Party
What a great night!
We had all the ingredients you need for a great Christmas Party... Father Christmas, A Brass Band, Christmas Carols, Mulled Wine, Turkey, Gingerbread, Mince Pies, Dancing, Family & Friends!
The party was held at Hanson Place and was themed around an indoor German Market. All Malcolm's grandchildren helped out, with Amy playing in the brass band, Ellie & Lucy staffing the 'dessert' tent and Luke helping out with the arrangements.
We didn't plan on Father Christmas showing up, but two arrived, (although they did have a strong resemblance to Dave Hoyle and Mark Shires from our Auto Coil Department....!) The Band were the 'Groove Monsters' and played some great music, whilst the food was provided by Darren at Bury Hog Roast and Danczuk's Deli.
November 21st 2013 - Ben Riley Receives his Intermediate Apprenticeship Certificate
This evening Ben Riley received his Intermediate Apprenticeship Certificate from Rochdale Mayor Peter Rush at Rochdale Townhall.
The Intermediate Apprenticeship Award in Performing Engineering Operations is equivalent to an NVQ level 2, and is the result of 12 months offsite training at Rochdale Training. Ben will now proceed onto the Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3 NVQ) in Mechanical Manufacturing and Springmaking.
October 30th 2013 - BEL Valve Shah Deniz Project
Hanson Springs are proud to have been chosen as the spring supplier to BEL Valve's for this prestigous project which represents BEL Valves largest single contract and part of a wider £45 billion investment.
The Shah Deniz oil and gas field is 6000m below the Caspian Sea, and it is estimated to contain 7 trillion m³ of gas, which will be supplied to Europe via a new 2000 km pipeline.
The valves form part of the "High Integrity Pressure Protection System" which is the failsafe protection system for the downstream flowlines from the sea floor. Our springs and designs have passed all required qualifications and specifications and it is testament to Bel Valves confidence in Hanson Springs that they are working with us, and we have jointly signed a long term supplier agreement.
October 23rd 2013 - 16mm CNC Auto Coiler Commissioned
Darren Pritchard coiled the first spring on our new 16mm CNC Auto Coiler. The coiling of the first batch was watched by Malcolm Hanson and Steven Nelson. Prior to purchasing this machine all springs from 8-16mm had to be mandrel coiled, but we now have the capability of coiling a variety of spring shapes whilst also offering faster coiling times for larger batch quantities.
The Heat Treatment and Grinding equipment to complement this Coiling machine will also be commissioned shortly.
October 22nd 2013 - First Spring Coiled at Hanson Place
Following months of preparation we have coiled the first spring at our new site. The spring was coiled by Steve Ramsden with John Haughey helping with the machine commissioning. This 8mm CNC Auto Coiler compliments our existing 8mm CNC Auto Coiler significantly increasing our coiling capacity on this range of springs.
October 19th 2013 - David Taylor's Retirement
David retired from Hanson Springs today after serving 33 years as an ASNT Level II certified Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant Inspector. David is relocating shortly to sunny Tenerife and we all wish him and his wife Sue the very best for a long, happy and healthy retirement.

September 8th 2013 - 50th Anniversary Party
After returning from York races the celebrations continued with part of the factory being converted into a function room with food provided by Bury Hog Roast, a Fully Staffed Bar and entertainment from local bands. Adam John Rogers played an acoustic guitar set, followed by the band ‘Mid Blue’ before the day came to an end at midnight with a DJ playing dance music to the close. An impromptu highlight of the evening was the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance performed by the four South Korean sales representatives… which no one will forget!
September 8th 2013 - Hanson Springs 50th Anniversary Stakes
Hanson Springs sponsored the 4:40 race at York, which was named the ‘Hanson Springs 50th Anniversary Stakes.’ The race was won by the favourite ‘Lancelot Du Lac.’ Following the race Lee Hind (Engineer) and Roy Fox (Sales Director) of Hanson Springs presented the winning trophy to Jim Crowley (Jockey), D K Ivory (Trainer) and M J Yarrow (Owner).
September 8th 2013 - Works Trip to York Races
The entire workforce of Hanson Springs along with their partners have enjoyed a day out to celebrate at York races where the Company had booked exclusive use of the Ebor suite for the day. Following reception drinks everyone sat down to enjoy a gourmet lunch whilst enjoying sweeping views of the magnificent York racecourse through floor to ceiling glass windows. The weather also played its part in making the day special with the sun shining for most of the day allowing everyone to enjoy watching the racing from the balcony.
September 8th 2013 - Gorrells Way Site Officially Named as "HAN50N PLACE"
The MP for Rochdale the Rt. Hon. Simon Danczuk and Malcolm Hanson the founder of Hanson Springs unveiled the name of the building ‘HAN50N PLACE.’ Also present at the opening were Julie Evans and Carol Hopkins representing the Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Council, Hanson Springs sales staff from South Korea, Italy and the USA, all our UK staff and Malcolm’s four grandchildren.
September 8th 2013 - '50 Year' Chandelier installed as a thank-you to Malcolm.
A Chandelier has been installed at Gorrells Way as a gift to Malcolm Hanson. The Chandelier has been designed and built in house by our talented team of Designer's, Springmaker's, Engineer's, Welder's and Electrician's. It is assembled from 50 springs, 50cm in length and 50mm in diameter, each spring is finished off with a crystal drop 50mm in diameter. The whole chandelier is illuminated with energy saving LED lighting.
September 8th 2013 - From Humble Beginnings
We are celebrating 50 years since Malcolm coiled his first spring on the 8th September 1963. The Company started at Marland Forge, before moving to Heywood and Todmorden before settling at it's current facilities at Lincoln St and Mellor St in Rochdale (UK), and Plano (Dallas) Texas USA.
3rd September 2013 - Offshore Europe
Graham Fowler and Neil Barcroft from our technical sales department and Pascal Esposito our European Sales Representative manned our Stand at the Offshore Oil & Gas Exhibition in Aberdeen. Malcolm and Maureen Hanson visited on Wednesday ... Many old friends and hopefully many new friends for the future were met.

25th August 2013 - Malcolm Hanson Celebrates with USA Staff
Malcolm and Family visited the Plano (TX) operation today and enjoyed a meal at Maggiano's to celebrate the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Hanson Springs Limited. Dave and Linda Waggoner are to fly to the UK in September to join in with the rest of the celebrations in the UK.
24th May 2013 - Chukka Ununna (Shadow Business Secretary) visits Hanson Springs
Today the Rt. Hon. Chukka Umunna (Shadow Business Secretary and MP for Streatham) visited Hanson Springs along with our local MP the Rt. Hon. Simon Danczuk. They toured the Hot Coil facility at Mellor St, and were interested in listening to our concerns about increasing energy costs in what is unavoidably an energy intensive manufacturing process.
12th January 2013 - Works Dinner Dance
Hanson Springs celebrated the New Year with a belated Christmas 'Do' at the Royal Toby in Rochdale. Entertainment was provided by the band 'Midnight Cats'
30th November 2012 - Purchase of Gorrells Way
Hanson Springs today completed the purchase of a new site at Gorrells Way in Rochdale. The building comprises 90,000sq ft on 7 acres. The site requires significant renovation to it's offices and utility connections before we can start manufacturing... Watch this space.
